My watercolor sketchesAs an artist who has worked mostly in the comfort of his studio, I find outdoor painting to be a challenging experience in which one is forever in pursuit of lights and shadows racing over the landscape he is painting, constantly rushed by the storm pointing at the horizon, the blinding sun that dries his paper faster than he can wet it, the cold that paralyses him, or the incoming darkness. From my excursions in the nature, I come back with very loosely done watercolor sketches which I will not retouch, however clumsy they may be, out of fear of losing the magic of the place and the moment of their creation. Most of these watercolours will be stored away on the shelves of a cabinet from which I occasionnally pull them out to recapture memories or to find new inspiration. In the original version of this page, I presented a few samples of my studio work. For this update I have revisited my cabinet and pulled out a few watercolor sketches to show you. | |
