Chesham, now renamed Notre-Dame-des-Bois, is a small village situated in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, near the Maine border. This village has a special meaning for me for it is my grandparents' and my parents' birthplace. I quickly painted that watercolor at 6:00 on a cool crisp august '97 morning.
